I must admit I got sucked into the whole thing by watching “Footballers’ Wives” on BBC America.

You know I rock my TREO 600 and there are a number of Football guides for Palm OS devices and the Treo for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.

I downloaded and use what TinyStocks has made available a free guide for Palm OS called WCup 2006.

You can lookup what games are played on which days and what games are played at each of the 12 stadiums. Check when and who each team is playing and add an alarm in your Datebook to be reminded of the games. With WCup 2006 you can also download the latest scores wirelessly using a Treo or Internet connected handheld and see which teams will make it to the next round.

It is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.

World Cup Mobile
“World Cup Mobile” created as a joint venture of Resco and Envi.con, provides online coverage of the Football World Cup in Germany as well as interesting materials about the World Cup history. “World Cup Mobile” offers match results, standings, World Cup statistics and news 24 hours a day. Football fans can view team rosters, stadium portraits and rich historical material supplemented with illustrative images. A detailed game description will follow each match.

(This means I must upgrade to a Treo 650 or 700p because it would not run on my 600)

I compiled a list of add-ons, plug-ins, and widgets so you can check the progress of your favorite teams, in real time, from your computer.

+ If you, like many of us, use Firefox browser. Download the add-on FootieFox, which will list match schedules, scores, and standings when you have your Firefox open.

+ For Microsoft Windows users, there is an official plug-in from Microsoft, the Soccer Scoreboard. There is no need to open a browser for usage.
tIt will generate the scores in RSS format also.

+ Last but not least, Apple users can install a number of widgets, including the FIFA World Cup Schedule. Unlike others, this is the only one that doesn’t have live updates of scores and standings.
