So I last I attended an event at the Cutting Room by Marie Claire Magazine, they were hosting a performance by The Vasserettes.

What or Who are the Vasserettes?

The invitation toted them as “one of the hottest new bands out of L.A.!
Get an exclusive first listen to their sure to be hit single,
“Are You Ready for the Real Thing?”.

Ok. Simple enough, First thing, WHAT is a Vasserette?
If you Google it you are going to get links to all types of lingerie.
A closer look will land you to this wikipedia entry and of course www.vassarette.com

Turns out the Vassarette is a brand of women’s underwear owned by Vanity Fair Brands. Their lines include bras, stockings and lingerie, and they were previously a major manufacturer of girdles.

So I have my first free drink and think ok, an an all girl bra wearing rock band.
Cool. I’m thinking Lita Ford multiplied by 4 for the 21st century!

A woman in the audience tells me they already did the song and they are about to do it “again”? (you mean they already performed and will do the same song

They get introduced, they come on stage, ready their instruments and go right into the song “Are You Ready for the Real Thing?”

3 minutes later the song is over, no thank you, no introduction of the band.

1. Who cooked up th hair-brained scheme?
2. Where do I file a complaint?
3. Why do the same song twice?
4. How do you consider yourself a rcck band with only one song?

Overall all, the song is catchy in a Josie and the Pussycats (cartoon) or even GEM-Truly Outrageous. But not good enough to chart.

If your gimmick is to wear bras on stage, the least you could do is fill them.

After a goodnights sleep, I come to realize it was all a clever marketing ploy by Vanity Fair.
Create an all girl rock band whos gimmick is just bras.

Like Russell on Fat Albert use to say:

“You can pay for school but you cant buy class!”

I am so excited that I, WE, meaning US, VICELOUNGE are a part this amazing piece of work and I will be rocking the free fresh new Reeboks..lol

This compilation was recently completed in private conjunction with Reebok and I Bootlegged your MUM describes it as a a seamless selection of spacey, bugged out, glitched-up, forehead-knockin’, ultramodern Soul, Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Grime and other Electronic hybrids alongside classic, organic vibes. I did find out something I did not know about the drink:
In 1971 Hennessy merged with Moët et Chandon.
In 1987 the drinks group then merged with fashion house Louis Vuitton

speaking of fashion, I got to speak with Marc Hobson briefly about these shoes, that to me were very anime-inspired.

The designer corrected me and described the shoe as a cross between a
Manolo Blahnik and an Air Jordan.

So I’ve been so busy that I’m finally getting around to writing about LAST saturday.
It was the Zune, Live @ the BBQ event, which sent out emails 3 weeks ago and you had to print out a barcoded ticket for entry.
It was promoted as an actual BBQ with a concert featuring Large Professor and Brand Nubian. (so you know I had to go)
The Zune mp3 player is impressive, and in many ways is abetter device for your money in terms of functionality than an Ipod.
Built in wifi, the ability to share songs with other Zune players, fm radio, pics, videos, and cheaper price.

Apple is winning because the marketing is so strong, but Microsoft is totally smashing Apple with events like these.
free beer and eat free barbecue chicken , free concert along with a nice view of the city from Planet Brooklyn.

I even got to capture a slice of hiphop history as i got to see the Original Crooklyn Dodgers, Masta Ace, Buckshot and Special Ed perform along with OC.

Next up was Large Professor:

I know its BK and the chick was japanese but where was the fashion police?
If style is letting people who you are without saying anything, then we all know this woman is crazy.
The Clipse performed by at that time I was sitting elsewhere eating, it “sounded” like an ok performance.

The also had free water fountains with Poland Spring water (not tap water)
and a lounge where they had some Zunes and a few Xbox 360 systems with flat screens sitting inside actual BBQ grills.

I hate the xbox controllers and I old school in the way of you like one system and stick with it….Playstation for life!

Next up was Brand Nubian

I was really looking to see Brand Nubian perform, but Lord Jamar missed his flight from LA, so it was only Sadat X and Grand Puba.

I left shortly after that.
I heard after awhile there was a surprise performance by LL Cool J, but I got issues with that cat after seeing him “act out’ backstage and a certain awards show and I’ll leave it at that…for now.

Overall was a pretty cool event and a very nice state park, Empire Fulton Ferry Park.
I have to remember to go back there just to chill out one day.

After attending a few meetings and also stopped by the Prefab Supima Premium Fabric Show, I spent the rest of the afternoon chilling out in
Bryant Park.
Whats not to love about this park? It’s big, has plenty of chairs and tables (with umbrellas) ,must be one of the best people watching venues in NYC and did I mention the free WiFi?

I even know a few secret spots for you to power your laptop when your battery is running low.

This older women was shuffling chairs next to me in an effort to “share” the umbrella.
After about an hour she asked me to watch her pink sweater while she went to go get coffee.
(She did take her purse and notebook though, weird!)
I agreed just as Dan Rather walked by with 2 other people.
I started to stop him and said hello and tell him that one of my reasons to upgrade to HD was to get his show “Dan Rather Reports” on HDNET. Really good, it’s REAL News stories in high definition.
