Last night I attended the album release for Janelle Monae-The ArchAndroid at the Highland Ballroom-
Despite the nearly 90 minute wait in line-the high energy cinematic accompanied performance was worth it-
I used the Iphone app HIPSTAMATIC for these pics-an application that brings back the look, feel, unpredictable beauty, and fun of plastic toy cameras from the past.
It comes with the John S Lens, the Jimmy Lens, the Kaimal Mark II Lens, the Standard Flash, the Dreampop Flash, Ina’s 1969 Film, and Kodot Verichrome Film.

The ArchAndroid is an “Emotion Picture” brought to you by ground-breaking, genre-blurring singer, songwriter, producer and performer Janelle Monáe and the Mad Minds of the Wondaland Arts Society. The star-studded featured cast includes the legendary Big Boi of OutKast, renowned poet Saul Williams, psychedelic dance-punk troupe Of Montreal, punk prophets Deep Cotton, and the Wondaland Arch Orchestra.
The ArchAndroid was inspired by such revolutionary musicians and artistic visionaries as Salvador Dalí, Walt Disney, OutKast, Stevie Wonder, Octavia Butler, David Bowie, Andy Warhol, and John Williams. It was Executive Produced by Nate Wonder, Chuck Lightning, Janelle Monáe, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, with Co-Executive Production from Big Boi of OutKast.
One of the best albums released this year-your MP3 player will thank you for it

Last week I attended the Supima Design Competition held at the New York Times Center on January 19, 2010
Finalists: Gina DeSilva, Nadia Ivanova, Sachika Twins (To-Tam and To-Nya), Heber Sanchez, Robin Tomas and Michael Venker.
The winning t-shirt will be appearing in Bloomingdale’s along with the current Supima collection.
The giftbags also included some nice t-shirts too!
I recently switched from Blackberry to Iphone (jailbroken of course, more on that later) and something went wrong with the Cydia app I was using to capture pics/vids.

Ran into photographer Jeffery Prehn the other night at the BoConcept Holiday Party.
He mentioned he had a photo of me that got a lot of comments on his website from the 2008 party.
This years party was a blast with great music spun by DJ Lady Bunny
I never imagined Cafe’ Bustelo Cool Cafe Con Leche and Absolut Vodka would be such a great mix and dangerous mix-lol

Last night I attended an event by Omega and GQ that honored Buzz Aldrin, one of the first men to ever walk on the moon, with a cocktail celebration marking the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing.
The event was held at the Omega Flagship Boutique on 5th Avenue.
The pouring rain made the trip rather difficult but while walking there, I remembered a quote from Hagakure-The Book of the Samurai by Yamamoto Tsunetomo-
There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.
This understanding extends to everything.
I wear a Breitling Navitimer and have only been jealous of the Omega watch simply because thats what James Bond wears.
It is also the only watch that has been worn on The Moon.
The Omega Speedmaster has been released or the 40th anniversary Moon Landing-a special commerorative edition of the same watch retails for $5800-
NO automatic movement, it has so much nostalgia that you actually have to wind this up.
There is a version that has automatic movement but that retails for $8000 and does not have the same face as the original.
As of the this writing there are on 7000+ pieces in existience.
The man of the hour showed up and the paparazzi snapped.
I snapped this with my rainsoaked blackberry curve 8320-whcih is why is slightly blurry.
Eventually I introduced myself and shook his hand and expressed what an honor it was to meet him.
To my surprise, Milo Ventimiglia also showed up! That reminds me I need to catch up and watch the last 3 episodes of the seasons HEROES!
Overall I had a nice time at the event, especially when they passed aroundthe cheese cake lollipops (delicious).
On my way out, I passed Buzz Aldrin again , we made eye contact and he said-“that’s a great tie”
Thanks Buzz!

Attending the Margi Kent 2009 Fall Collection the other night @ the Hosfelt Gallery-this place is waaay on the westside and actually right next to an auto body shop-but definitely worth the trip. Good food and even better drinks, but a GREAT show by Margi Kent-
It’s not just dressing someone, its helping to define who they are as a person, or who they want to be.
It’s finding out what makes a person unique, and then creating an image that reflects that unique nature.
-Margi Kent
