June

Posted on 01 June 2004 by jnu

It’s the 1st of June and as I write this the temperture is 51 degrees….insane.

Last week I started a new “job/project”

Saw Heavy D at a party earlier the week.

Had my second “cat on a leash” experinence; That is someone with a harness/leash on a cat and walkig it like its a dog. I hope this is NOT catching on.

Tried Quiznos for the first time this week.
I must say the way there sandwiches are made and overall service beats Subways hands down.

Started reading :
Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”
“Born to Steal:How the Mafia hit Wall Street” by Gary Weiss
,
Toni Morrison’s- “The Bluest Eye’ and
“The Art of Deception” by Kevin Mitnick all in ebook format for the Palm OS which I can take with me right in my pocket.
Look for them soon in the Downloads section.

Nick Berg Beheading

Posted on 16 May 2004 by jnu

So it’s Saturday Night, I have been thinking most of the evening about whether to post the now infamous beheading video. It was the highest ranked Google search this week for obvious reasons.
A lot of people expected it to be on my site. I’m not sure if thats good or bad.
The fact is I have been following developments of the story and too busy with other projects to address it.
So I’m online line chatting with a friend:
Ms. Rook: hi
JNU(ME): hi
Ms. Rook: i wanna talk to you about something
JNU(ME): ?
Ms. Rook signed off at 8:22:05 PM.
Ms. Rook signed on at 8:22:05 PM.
Ms. Rook signed off at 8:23:45 PM.
Ms. Rook signed on at 8:23:45 PM.
Ms. Rook: hello?
JNU(ME): ?
Ms. Rook: my aol keeps dying
Ms. Rook: i asked…did u see the beheading video
JNU(ME): nope
JNU(ME): did you?
Ms. Rook: i have it on pause right now
JNU(ME): how big is it..can you send it to me?
Ms. Rook: see i wrote this lil thing about why everyone should see it….but now i m all…weird about seeing it
JNU(ME): hmm…writing about this conversation should be pretty interesting too…lol
Ms. Rook: http://www.jquinton.com/archives/001089.html
JNU(ME): i kind of see your point
Ms. Rook: the whole point of my …piece….is that you know, although its a reality, its not a reality for ameriacns……
Ms. Rook: and yadda yadda—but the point is, now i m looking and feeling like—seeing it is gonna change my life ……..my mindstate…………….and i am not one of those ‘in the clouds’ utopian minded americans to begin with
JNU(ME): like i said about watching “the matrix” the first time..
Ms. Rook: yeah
JNU(ME): yeah it will effect you..but on the usa side of things…
JNU(ME): we heard about…but they show us more pics of the torture of Iraqi prisoners…
Ms. Rook: i know
Ms. Rook: like its ok to fuck them up
Ms. Rook: but not nick from pa
Ms. Rook: shall we watch it together?
JNU(ME): i just downloaded it…debating about posting it myself
Ms. Rook: did u see it
JNU(ME): my bandwidth was over 1gb with the album downloads…
Ms. Rook: lol
JNU(ME): no i havent seen it yet
JNU(ME): think i will host it on my “underground” server…
Ms. Rook: LOL….u got a downlow server
Ms. Rook: only u
JNU(ME): well i think seeing it will change your life…
Ms. Rook: u want me to call? then we can watch it and get it over with
JNU(ME): but you are changing it if you dont watch it…when you have the power to..
JNU(ME): if i could..i would post it on the JumboTron in Times Sqaure
Ms. Rook: wow, thats true
Ms. Rook: everyone needs to see it
Ms. Rook: biggest reason? and this reminds me of your ‘u know youre a new yorker when’
Ms. Rook: …people now see 9/11 as a nuisance, not a reality check
Ms. Rook: 9/11 is why we cant get to our planes faster, why we REALLY have to be there an hour ahead of time….
Ms. Rook: why it costs more to fly out of boston
Ms. Rook: not —- why 2,000 kids lost a parent or two
JNU(ME): i blogged about a sign I saw at the F stop..about building number 7 being “demolished” on purpose…
Ms. Rook: =-O
JNU(ME): and about micheal moores movie being banned..
JNU(ME): which ties the bush/bin laden fams together..
JNU(ME): and the documentary on pbs “the man who knew”…a guy who knew they were going to attack the wtc..but the fbi ddidnt listen..the irony is he worked in the WTC and was killed
JNU(ME): im reading the transaltion…and wondering why they (the U.S.media) arent even posting/mentioning that at least.
Ms. Rook: oh wow
JNU(ME): so…
JNU(ME): you going to watch it?
Ms. Rook: so THATS what the moore movie is about
Ms. Rook: yes i am
Ms. Rook: i am preparing msyelf by watching drudge’s stills
Ms. Rook: http://www.drudgereport.com/iiraq3.htm
JNU(ME): gangsta…
Ms. Rook: lol
JNU(ME): the “funny” thing is we are so desensitised from pop culture and video games and movies
Ms. Rook: yeah
JNU(ME): i just think mortal kombat “FATALITY” and I SHOULDNT be
Ms. Rook: lol
Ms. Rook: ….folks will buy thier kids these games but then get mad if they get exposed to the video
JNU(ME): just got off the phone with GRFX…
JNU(ME): he refuses to see it…i kind of see his point
Ms. Rook: …..
JNU(ME): most kids know video games are fake..
Ms. Rook: yeah, kids here
Ms. Rook: in other countries, kids are in the army
Ms. Rook: hey….call me at (440)***-****

We talk some more on the phone, shes is going to call me back, she still hasn’t seen the Drudge Report photos. At the time of this writing I still have NOT seen the video its 10pm.

There sits the link to Download the video, 29 seconds later the
8.4MB Windows Media File with an obscure filename is on my hard drive.
I remember before renaming it I was thinking should I call it “nickberg?” “nickberg_beheaded”?..for some reason it seemed disrespectful.

I end up renaming it to “beheading.wmv”
So at the time of this writing..I still havent viewed it.
I go for a walk and connect with a friend who has seen it but his wife and brother refuse to.

I walk for 20 blocks and there is a massive thunderstorm.
I end up getting soaked in the rain but I don’t run for cover.

I go by a Samurai tenet from the Hagakure:
“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking”
Ever since reading that I don’t run in the rain.
Plus I heard you get wetter by running in the way anyway.
You can use this Javascript calculator to figure it out.
Anywho…

Back to the topic:

I made another call and it seems to be some inconsistency with different versions.
My file is 8.4MB, his is 5.3MB. Could be length or the quality of the video. I’ll confirm this later.

It clocks in at 5:37 total running time.

I go get something to eat, chillout watch tv (The Shield which I taped earlier this week) and decide to watch the video later.
(it is now 4am)
….I must say the video is disturbing.
Is my life changed? Yes.
Did it gross me out? No…but not how I imagined it would be.

I guess I have a strong stomach for it but have the empathy for Nick Berg and know the reason why MOST people DO NOT want to view it.

Why the “mainstream” media won’t show it is probably due to the the convoluted logic of political correctness and not wanting to assault our sensitivities, they have by default or design instead chosen to insult our sensibilities.

I mean this isnt when the R. Kelly or Paris Hilton videos which were sent to me as well.

This is not for shock value or entertainment purposes and should not be looked at in that way at all.
As of writing this I have seen it 3 times and noticed some issues that have been raised by other bloggers….
…whether or not HE was ALIVE when he was beheaded.
Time SMTPE (time code numbers) shift from 13:26:25 where he states his name, etc.
Then to 2:48:35-2:44:35 and then to 13:45:50 where the actual beheading begins.

Working for more than 15 years in television production I know that this is either different tape sources used and edited together or drifting timecode which I doubt.

Bad editing is what it is.

Like Fox News: “we report. You decide.”

After much debate and thoughtful consideration of the victim, his family I will make the video available in the downloads section and for direct viewing on the site.

What made me come to the decision?

5 reasons:

1. I listened to an interview from Nick Berg’s former roommate on NPR.
The last thing he was told that Mr. Berg was going sailing in Turkey.
He was surprised that his mother called and reported him missing.
Nick Berg was given safe passage and a plane ticket to leave the country and refused.

2. You do NOT talk about Fight Club.

3. Michael Berg, father of 26-year-old Nicholas Berg, told CNN at his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, that his son went to Oklahoma University several years ago and allowed people later identified by U.S. authorities as terrorists to use his computer.

4. “Nick was taking a course at a remote campus that was near the airport and he was on a bus and some terrorist people ? no one knew they were terrorists at the time, they were just fellow students ? were also taking the bus,” said Berg.
Someone asked him basically to let him use his computer, and he did. It turned out that this guy was a terrorist and that he used my son’s email, among many other people’s email.”

5. U.S. officials, according to CNN, say Berg shared his computer ? and his password ? with one individual, and that password somehow ended up in the possession of Moussaoui, a French citizen arrested one month before the Sept 11 attacks.

Hmmmmm….

5. Ok. if he was just some guy from Philly who let potential terrorists use his computer AND email I could let it slide. But NOW he is just the SAME some guy from Philly who let potential terrorist use his computer AND email and ends up with a telecommunications company in IRAQ and gets beheaded.

I might let someone use my computer but NOT my email.
How many of you will let a stranger on a bus use YOUR computer AND email account freely?

UTFO

Posted on 14 April 2004 by jnu

So over the weekend I got an email from a friend who checked out the new site.
She was looking for a free download, specifically “Fairytale Lover” from UTFO.

I know I’m aging myself, but that made me flashback to UTFO which was my second real life hiphop experience.

My cousin was a DJ at a college station in Massachusetts so when the new hiphop acts came into town he spun before the shows and did on-air interviews.

My first real concert was Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five.

The show was at a local rollerskating rink and we got there before setup.
Grand Master Flash came out and was moving records in, I was all geeked out and he just looked at me, from what I remember I was wearing an argyle sweater and penny loafers (with dimes in them), hardly hiphop gear.
You gotta remember that for the time circa 198?, the Furious Five dressed like super-heros, leather, fur, etc.
He just stared at me for a minute like “who the fuck are you?” then my cousin told him I was with him, he shook my hand, introduced me to Melle Mel who came out.

I then picked up one of crates of records and helped him bring them inside.

My second experience was shortly after for another concert at the SAME venue with UTFO.

At the time “Beats and Rhymes” was my joint and they had just dropped the single “Roxanne,Roxane”, I got to meet them before had and got to stand in the front row.
I remember the sound system was jacked up, like most shows back then but the performance made up for it.
The show was over when all the girls rushed Kangol when he started grindin on the floor…lol.

So my friend brings up ‘Fairytale Lover”, so I dug it up from the archives.

It’s very vague, I don’t remember it and the reason why is because they are singing on some
Force MD’s ish. In fact I thought it WAS Force MD’s.

Either way, for your listening pleasure you can get some UTFO goodness in the DOWNLOADS section.
While writing this I racked my brain trying to remember what U.T.F.O stood for:
Untouchable Force Organization.

Opera 7

Posted on 03 April 2003 by jnu

So I’m a little excited about the Internet or should I say World Wide Web today.

I downloaded the new version of the Opera browser 7.02

Hands down it is the BEST browser on the planet.
Pages like the one you are reading now load much faster.
It has downloadable skins to change the lod and fell depending on your mood.
Pages come up “tabbed” in one place…no multiple windows to search through.
It even has a button to “turn off” popups.
More importantly it is 100% W3C standard.
No funny IE or Netscape javacode/special code wackiness.
Plus it doesnt utilize Active X, so less crashes.
And if it does crash, it can pick up from the last page you were checking out.

The browser is ALMOST as hot as the “Little Brother” album that has been in heavy rotation at
the lab. I can’t front the R. Kelly and 50 Cent are hot too.

But the “Llorca” get more rotation up in these parts.

So if you are using Internet Explorer or Netscape…download Opera and make your life easier.
I probably won’t make it my “default” browser since there is some cool css functions/java stuff that
will work with IE6+ only. Like some on this page which dont work completely in Opera

One more glitch, the other browsers are free but you get what you pay for. :)
Opera is $39 for the full registered version.
Not that I had the dough to pay for it.
But those who know me, know I have been doing this Internet/WWW/Computer thing since
Duran Duran.

So if you want the full registered Opera after you download it….holla.

Weekly Recap

Posted on 25 November 2002 by jnu

Pretty hectic week (last week)
So I figured I would do a weekly “recap” of what went on.
On wednesday I got one of those phone calls…
“Hey you want to check out event??”
Vague details, but I figured what they hey.
Turns out a friend of mine had 4 tickets to:
“Songwriters in the Round: Generation Volume 1″ an evening to
benefit VH1 Save the Music Foundation. click here for more info.
He had some issues picking them up at the MTV office.
Seemed like it might be ho hum but the price of the tickets was $750!
We just had to see what kind of people would paying $750 for an event at the
Bottom Line

Free drinks was a given. sushi at the table cool.
Wack gift bags though. It was filled with a bunch of expensive skin-care products.

A while after sitting down we noticed Jimmy Jam
(from FlyteTime, Janet Jackson, Alexander O’ Neal)
chillin at the bar. Pharell and Chad of the Neptunes walked in.
Kelis then sat down at a table.
This whole thing was a benefit show (thus the $750 ticket price)
Lots of stuffy corny people pay $750 for tickets. Now I know.
The stage was an intimate semi-acoustic stripped down performance featuring:
The Neptunes, Jimmy Jam, Jewel, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 and was moderated by
Bernie Taupin (Elton John’s co-writer, “Hold me tight now Tiny Dancer…”)
It focused on the craft of songwriting.

The Neptunes starting by a rendition of Nelly “Its gettirng Hot in Here”, with just the piano and a broken drum machine. Pretty Cool. Jimmy Jam did “Tender Love” (Force MD’s) I didnt know that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote and produced that joint. Jewel gets much more props on her voice.
I never really checked out Matchbox 20, but dude is good. I will have to get there stuff.
I found a new quote online the other day.
“novice’s go to hmv and genius’ download” LOL. I guess I’m a genius. :)

Afterwards we went to Panna II. check it here
It offers the BEST Indian food I have had. The ambiance is cool.
The motto is : “Where Chili Pepper Lights Meets Christmas-tree Lights”
The whole place is decorated with red christmas tree lights.
The menu price so cheap too. Best deal in town next to Gray’s Papaya.
Above all, the service is REALLY good. Those guys are cool.
Later on we ended up at Remote Lounge
Remote is one of favorite spots. The only technology based lounge equipped with
“telepresence”.
At Remote, all of the cameras within the lounge are controllable by the bar patrons themselves, who can view the output of the different cameras at custom-designed Cocktail Consoles?.
frontbooth2remote (10k image)

The Cocktail Consoles? also allow customers to then remotely pan and tilt any camera they are viewing using a joystick.
You can even hit a button of the consoles and it will snap a pic and post it on their website.
barbararemote (7k image)meatremote2 (8k image)tamikaremote (8k image)
Click here for other the other crazy pics ppl snapped that night.

Cool Place, it was bound to be even cooler since Tony Touch was having his release party for his new album “Last of the Pro-Ricans.”

200211210029151007 (22k image)

Hip-Hop, high tech…what more can you ask for.
I could have done without MOST of the dudes sporting the “Throw Back” Jerseys.
Come on, you’re not professional athletes. Give it a rest already!
I really stood out since i wore a suit. Oh w.ell….

Overall…a good night.

More later…

H2K2

Posted on 13 July 2002 by jnu

It’s 4:20am and I’m still up.
I’m excited because this is the weekend of the H2K2 Conference.
H2K2 is the Beyond H.O.P.E. (Hackers on Planet Earth).
Yes, a conference for hackers. It’s here in the city.
More info can be found at here(www.h2k2.net)
Some panels include:

>Everything you ever wanted to know about spying and did not know who to ask
>The Password Probability Matrix
> Fucking Up the Internet at ICANN: Global Control Through the Domain Name System and How to Escape
That’s an actual panel discussion at the event so you get the picture.
I will be spending the weekend getting my geek on.

Aaron Mcgruder, creator of the BoonDocks comicstrip is giving a keynote on Decss.
boondecss (18k image)
For those who don’t know about the Decss:
CSS stands for Content Scrambling System, a (very weak) encryption used for movie DVDs.
DeCSS is a small piece of software that breaks the CSS encryption and allows the reading of encrypted DVDs.
In December 1999, eight major motion picture studios sued 2600 Magazine for publishing an article containing the DeCSS computer software and linking to DeCSS.
Although you can go to Google and find thousand of links to the source code there.
Norwegian teenager Jon Johansen created DeCSS in an effort to develop an open source software player that would allow people to play their lawfully purchased DVDs on computers running the Linux operating system.
To take it one step further a company called CopyLeft is selling t-shirts with the source code printed on the back. They were sued by the MPAA as well.
(I would link them but I’m trying to sell my own t-shirts, I’m sure you understand.)

boondecss2 (12k image)

Well now they can try to sue me:
Click right here
and download the source code yourself.

This is my website.
There are many like it but this one is mine.

AudioGalaxy

Posted on 18 June 2002 by jnu

All good things must come to an end.
That means thinking of or listening to an obscure song and then searching for it on Audiogalaxy is over.
Today (6.17.02) the company settled out of court with the RIAA and removed all of it music from its servers. The official article is here
I noticed this afternoon when mildrec.com hipped me to
the group “the beginning of the end” and the song that Pete Rock used for the T.R.O.Y sample.
Just when I did a search and was ready to download the AudioGalaxy no longer worked.
I was actually going to gank the Debarge joint “Stay with Me” which is used so cleverly on the remix for
Biggie’s “One more chance” and more recently on the Ashanti’s “Foolish”.
I figured I’d get the original and would add to to my old groove pile.

Well with a reported 1.5 billion hits reported in November. There is a multitude of songs that will be shared in some other kind of way.

I’m sure you heard that the future of Internet Radio is being threatened as well.
If not, get schooled here
The also want to try to charge a new “royalty” tax of 6% on USED cd’s.
None of this will ever reach the artists of course.
Read more here

And if ya don’t know now ya know……

Still no attack

Posted on 19 May 2002 by jnu

Day 4….still didnt see “Attack of the Clones”.
There is still “Mideast Turmoil”
I managed to download the entire “Cowboy Bebop” anime series from Kazaa.
Then made my own vcd’s and will check it out on my dvd player.

I couldnt afford the dvd release of the series at $30 for 4 episodes.
As my brother says, “My money is funny and my change is strange”
So I got it for all for free. Don’t you love the Internet?
Of back to Star Wars…
People are telling me the movie is cool. Maybe it is.
But I was so disappointed on Episode 1.
I’m staring at my Mace Windu doll which is still in the package hanging on the wall.
(Is that geeky or what??)
I’m not sleeping on it. I just want to see it digitally projected since it was shot digitally.
Unfortunately there are only 19 theatres with digital projection in the country as opposed to the
2,000 that George Lucas thought would be in place by the films release.
3 of which are here in Gotham city (NYC)
Here is a complete list:

Harkins Arrowhead Cinemas 18 Peoria, Arizona

AMC Media Center 6 Burbank, California

Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 Megaplex Irvine, California

El Capitan Theatre Los Angeles, California

Loews Century Plaza Los Angeles, California

AMC Mission Valley 20 San Diego, California

AMC 1000 Van Ness San Francisco, California

AMC Pleasure Island 24 Lake Buena Vista, Florida

AMC South Barrington 30 South Barrington, Illinois

AMC Studio 30 Olathe, Kansas

General Cinema Framingham 16 Framingham, Massachusetts

Show Case Cinemas Randolph Randolph, Massachusetts

Edgewater Multiplex Cinemas Edgewater, New Jersey

AMC Empire 25 Theatres New York, New York

Clearview Ziegfeld Theatre New York, New York

Loews Cineplex E-Walk New York, New York

Cinemark at Valley View Valley View, Ohio

Showcase Cinemas Springdale Springdale, Ohio

I love the AMC Empire on 42nd although the area reminds me more and more of Las Vegas
everytime I venture down there.
I will see Episode 2 sometime during the week in the afternoon where I can see it digitally and geek free.
I was by there on last Wednesday where I swear I saw some dudes dressed as Stormtroopers.

Soul Music First

Posted on 05 April 2002 by jnu

Soul Music First:
I figured out its best going out during the week (if you can)
I ws on list at Gemini Lounge, by some new media types/lawyers, but was walking by “Nightingale’s” where something caught my ear.
It was an open mic/poetry “Guerilla::words” hosted by Brian Buno.
Turns out I missed Reg E. Gaines (remember him in “Higher Learning”?)
QYORKS (queens if youre not up on the lingo) KNOWA LAZARUS. A filipino MC.
and DJ KUTTIN KANDI.:: www.kuttinkandi.com
She is pretty nice on the ones and twos. Check her site out.

Percee P, a well known “underground old skool” MC performed too.
I spoke to him afterwards and bought his CD “Then and Now”.
One of his tracks is being used in a film, and he hit me off with the directors info.
All in the name of collab, everythings bueno.
His CD is hot! I usually get mad skeptical when some artist came at me on the street and wants me to buy his ish.
The last time I did that some dude was in front of FatBeats, asked what I was listening to on my walkman. De La Soul:AOI:BIONIX.
He tells me he likes De LA too, assures me his tuff is on some underground coolness.
Goes by the name “Sdaerd”. I bought it for $5. Production was semi-tight.
Which means if you are reading this, or I see you on the street, you owe my $2 dollars on the real.

Anywho, the performances made my night and I went home.
Next night, Wednesday, Downtime.
I was blessed with a performance from Madame Isreal.
Some refreshing R&B Soul Funk. I want to work with them in some capacity.
They worked with Probe, who did some production on the Amy Douglas and The Industry Standard album, I did the site, it is linked under Fam/Affiliates.

From there SPA, “Soul Music First”. Qool Marv was spinniing in the white room.
I must have walked up to the DJ Booth 3 times and typed in my Blackberry what he was playing.
I know am downloading the ultimate Funk/Soul/Rare Groove joint.
I know my afro will be picked to spherical perfection while listening to this one.
“Smilin Billy Suite’ which was used on NAS “One Love”.
Free good entertainment during the week.

None of that syrupy wait in line and be cute ish the clubs be on the weekends.
I save the weekend for sipping wine, eating cheese and writing, reading, and creating.

I caught Russell Simmons on Neil Cavuto yesterday.
They were of course discussing the financial dominance of HipHop in the industry.
They also talked about the negative aspects too. (of course)
I can’t knock Russell though. I got my personal Russells story.
I first met him when George Jackson introduced us at UBO.
He showed up classic Russell, Phat Farm gear and shelltoe Adidas.
Andre Harrell was behing him on the phone.
I was in the ‘screening/encoding room” which we set up temporarily at the time.

George Jackson: …meet Jonn Nubian, he is heading all of our Streaming Media initiaves.
Russell Simmons: Whats up.
Me: Whats up.
George Jackson: In the up coming months we are going to be doing…
Russell: Interupting, yeah whatever, just show me the shit I came to see.
They went in the next room where George showed him the Flash stuff we were workiing on.
The proposed Bruce Lee series, the Heather Hunter BulletProof Diva Series, etc.
Then it clicked..why is George showing it to him????

The Buzz circulated around the office that HE was there.
Some people thought it was cool. Like when Muhammad ALi ws there, when Jennifer Lopez and Puffy was there, etc. It came to be pretty regular for me.
Except when Lynn Whitfield the actress, was looking over my shoulder one day.
Only it didnt click he was her.
She was so fine, I said to myself she looks like Lynn Whitfield only better.
She then said, Hello my name is Lynn Whitfield, I’m a friend of George’.
Duh on me that day.
Anywho, a week later the head animator (who worked on Beavis and Butthead) quit.
To work on what was soon to be 360HipHop started by Russell.
When it launched it knocked a lot of sites out the box, and had some edgy flash animation…hmmmm.
Months later, George died. Russell sells 360HIPHOp to BET for $10 Million.

Fast forward present day, December 2001. I buy Rusell’s book “Life and Def” on the street while uptown.
You think I bought that joint for $24.95. I learned the game in NYC.
NEVER BUY AT RETAIL COST. And I learned that the city itself makes the alternative very easy.
A little secret, you can get new books at Amazon.com prices in like the upper 70′s/Columbus circle area.
Go up past that like Harlem and they just sell Terry Mcmillan and Ice Berg slim novels.
Go below that like in midtown and they sell childrens coloring books.
So I breeze the the book in a day. I almost didnt get it since it had a foreword by Nelson George.
I got some unresolved semi-beef with him. I sent him an email. He boast on his site he has 2 email address..(whoa)
Hey Nelson, remember me? Sony Studios, screening room, advanced screening of
“Croutching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. I was sipping on the comp wine and shrimp with my peeps.
Told you I admired your work. Your response: “yeah, ok” on some Bougie ish.
That’s right you read it:
JNU on some straight up 100% Grade A First Generation Hateration towards another.
(I don’t believe Mary J wrote that word in a song, it all bueno though, I actually incorporated it into my vocab)

Ok. So I read the book. Have the book in my bag and on the way to a meetiing see a flyer that he is doing book signing at Barnes/Noble.
I finish my meeting and go. He seemed like he was in the groove. Probably something on some Def Comedy Jam: “Thanks for coming, God Bless” like he ended his book with.
He asked me my name. I told him and I mentioned that George Jackson introduced.
It seemed to conjure some memory or inner guilt, whatever it was, he paused.

He asked me what I was up to. Nothing I said.
(In fact I am preparing a paradigm shift on the whole industry and to rid it of all the BS)
We shook hands. That was it.

He ended up signing my book: “It was a pleasure meeting you again-Russell”
We will see if he shows up in my film.

OK. I won’t end this joint with that.
Here is a gem:
