“Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.”

Today at 9pm on HBO!
If you missed the first part of this riveting documentary last night, you
must catch the second part on 8/22 (tonight) at 9pm on HBO.
Spike Lee directs this film which depicts not only the devastion of the
storm, but “Americans begging for simple aid from their government.”
And what’s more scary is that a year later not enough has been done to help.
Overall the film may have some flaws but it is a gripping and moving piece of television that shouldn’t be missed.
The part where Mayor Ray Nagin tells us when he got to take a shower on Air Force One and made the president wait while he finished is classic.
All four acts will be seen Tuesday, Aug. 29 (8:00 p.m.-midnight),
the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

On August 4th my main man Qool Marv was doing a gig in Galway, Ireland.
When he got back he told me and Tyren , while he was there someone came into the spot with a copy of the compilation album we released last year
“Music for Music Lovers, vol. 1″ and asked him to sign it….

It was initally released in the UK/Europe and has SOLD OUT, which I supposed it did ok for the low number of copies produced.
Hey marv, tyren, sol…lets get to work on volume 2

Much to my chagrin, my main man Tyren wanted to have a JNU/VICELOUNGE Birthday Party for us Leo’s the weekend
he knows I’m not really into celebrated birthdays especially my own.
He used keywords like “low-key”, “fun” and “chocolate cake”.

So I took the trek to Brooklyn to GRAND 275 and to my surprise there were so many people there.
(i think mostly from my MYSPACE page…lol)
Tyren hands me some poker chips, which equaled FREE DRINKS.
I handed him a special hand rolled 12 inch cigar I picked up earlier that day, lit mine and enjoyed the evening.
I was even surprised when my homegirl and now Sony/Columbia recording artist “St.Juste” showed up.
A little later after some drinks that I was going to use her new single “Big Shoes” on my
“Winter/Spring Collection” mixcd/podcast.
She was painting on some makeshift canvas next door to the bar where some paint and some brushes were left.
She then looks my way and ask me to get her a glass of wine….for the paint.
I’m like “what?”, she like “yea…for the paint..will give it something extra.
So I go to the other bar and for red wine, which they only had Merlot and Shiraz.
I chose the Shiraz, I come out and she pours the wine into the can of paint.
I tell her, “you know I’m going to right about this”….lol
So if you happen to be in Brooklyn and the mural is still there on Grand, know that the paint on the right side has wine in it.
had a good convo with Adario Strange and John Lee , who recently directed the Starz network original documentary
“Dead Prez: Bigger Than Hip Hop”
(thanx for the dope t-shirt) about “being off the grid” one day.
That means perhaps being so technologically plugged in may mean moving towards the opposite.
No cell phone, no pda, no email, may be the new way to go…
Overall a good night, special thanx for the people @ Grand , Paul for the pics and Leslie for baking the chocolate chocolate cake that we didn’t cut until 2am.

Last night attended Hennessy Artistry Presents: party featuring SLEEPY BROWN & SKY NELLOR @ SHOW.
Crappy pics in the MOBILE PIC section
The Hennessy Paris, New York and Tokyo cocktails were good. Sleepy Brown’s performance was cool.
A little off-key in some places , but the band was TIGHT
(i don’t think he had proper monitors to hear himself)
As it turns out Sleepy Brown’s father is Jimmy Brown, the lead vocalist and saxophonist for the 1970s funk band Brick.
He was on stage tonight as well!

Check out his new video “Margarita” featuring Big Boi and Pharell.

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. – unknown
While getting some “donated” furniture for the living room a few months agoInside the nice hutch was a bottle of Dom Pérignon from 1982! sealed in the box, unopened.
This weekend I opened it and drank it.
No special occasion, we were drinking Champagne, anyway.
Not to be confused with sparking wine.
It ain’t Champagne, unless its from Champage, a province in France.
What does a 24 year old bottle of wine taste like?
Coffee. maybe because it had fermented that long, OR it could have been the chocolate covered expresso beans I was nibbling on…or I was just plain drunk.
