New Intro/Splash page. Afrodisiac style. I will post a gallery of new splashes when I build up enough.
Nothing new really..pressing with the film…site and news will launch soon.
The World Economic Forum is coming to NYC tomorrow.
The NYPD is even enforcing a 1845 law which bars groups to wear mask.
I guess The Avengers better not assemble tomorrow for fear of being arrested.
Busy with writing..more later

So the end of another week..or beginning. Depends on how you look at it.
The show @ SOB’s was hot. Detonators Records, BreezeEvah Flowin, C Rayz..are definitely holding the torch for the real underground hiphop. One thing that stands out in my head is a ryhme C Rayz said…something like
“You’ll find yourself like a Eskimo who lost their housekeys…ICED OUT!”
That alone should give you a sense of the level of hiphop I’m talking. Get more 411 on the tour, etc by clicking here
It’s 56 degrees out, a little less the than avergage temp in LA when I was there a month ago.
It seems like it was longer than that. Well Im going out to enjoy it.
I’m burning a cd, some old 80′s Loose Ends,Duran Duran which I will play that after my BBD compiliation
The first BBD album is dope. No pun intended. I don’t know about the new one.
Then Im going to grocery shopping. There is nothing like grocery shopping while listening to your walkman. Its almost like meditation. Plus you dont have to listen to the other people, and “price checks” on the “Chile con Carne”.
Its funny, I grew up in a time where you only had access to songs from the radio. Or you had to use your allowance and go the the record store and buy the 45. A group of friends would go, each buying what we liked, then went home to listen to them. Then put them away. Or maybe we would put the tape recorder next to the radio and records songs from there…yall remember..remember how your recordings got messed up when your mom took out the vacuum…or the telephone rang?
Now I have 30 channels of music on my satellite of almost every genre..commercial free.
Better yet, I think of a song..and download it. I also get music free from industry contacts….which puts me in a vacuum of hearing NEW stuff before its NEW.
When the other site is up I will make the new music available for download.
Is it a crime. Whats the difference between buying a CD for $15 at Virgin Megastore and buying it on the street in ChinaTown for $4? I will tell you..$11 and linear notes. Or $4 and your in vicinity of bubbletea.
You look at the producer credits and shoutouts once, maybe twice if yor friends look and reads something you missed. I would be looking to pay if there was added value.
I worked on a project last summer with V2 Records for the release of the “Black Crowes” LIONS
CD. The CD was encrypted with Digital Rights Managment which gave the purchaser of the CD exclusive access to music that was sent almost weekly from the group while they were on tour. That’s something extra that is worth the money. Hopefully more CD’s would be released that way….but the company who did the DRM is out of business. Oh well…

A recap of the week thus far,
Monday night started out with a screening of “SWEET SWEETBACK?S BAADASSSSS SONG”
Downtown in the East Village at Cinema Classics.
This film kept getting by me. I have seen parts, and havent been ale to find it on video.
In my opinion its a classic, and was instrumentl in ushering in the whole blaxploitation genre
in the 70′s. Melvin Van Peebles did the ultimate wy back then as producer/writer/editor AND co-composer along with Earth, Wind and Fire.
The film has some distrubing moments even in 2002. Like a scene where a black guy is shiniing a white guys shoe with his butt…For some reason that sticks in my head, and I think it was supposed to.
After that, myself and mildrec.com discovered “Veniero’s”, you can get the BEST pastries there!
Then dinner://Pan Thai Shrimp at Bendix.
The night ended at 3am at my “new” hotspot, although its been around for a minute.
Bobbito’s “MintyFresh Living Room” at APT.
Overall a cool way to spend a Monday

George Bush has been in the news over his “Preztel” incident.
Give me a break. The real story is that he WASN’T alone. He was watching the football game with a Secret Service agent, they had a bet for $50 dollars, and when the presidents team lost.
He didn’t want to pay up. So the Agent whipped his ass and knocked him out.
Only the press would believe that he choked on a preztel, passed out ,got a mark on his face and laughed it off. Look at the pic and tell me if it doesnt look like he caught a beatdown,

Its been awhile since I posted. Just been busy with the usual and unusual this week.
That event on Monday was cool. Chilled with Harry Allen which was cool.
Its so cool and weird “growing up” listening/reading about certain people and then you end of working with them, or meeting them in a different capacity. The topic of the event was “Societal effects of blacks in the media” When it came to a discussion of hiphop. Someone in the audience called out how the perception was today, and that Russell Simmons is mainly responsible.
I didnt get and defend but for Russell is all about the fact that he has corporate dominance in hiphop now. He is the Bill Gates of Hiphop and DefJam is Windows XP.
Hmm….I wonder if anyone has made such an analogy???
Anyway, most people only get certain views/perceptions based on misconceptions…
So I looked in my mailbox the other day and didnt find Anthrax.
Instead a friend sent me a CD from the hiphop artist “Mystic”. From what I heard so far, its hot.
I’d like to send a shout out to Fequan for the hook up.
More later
Peace

So its friday, once again Im left to sit and think about whether I should go out or not.
IT also leaves me to “add” on to what I was saying yesterday about Yoga and sprituality..
blah, blah, blah.
I ended up going to church the weekend before christmas. I havent been to a church service since I was….younger. I didnt get much out of it. But I can see that some people were affected.
People need a place or time to be able to see themselves and see there spritual side. Some people meditate and pray. Some go to the church and praise the lord. Some go out to clubs and drink and dance the night away.
At church the pastor tells the people to praise the the lord and put their hands in the air
(and put money in the collection plate)
At a club the DJ tells the people to put their hands in the air
(and tip those waitresses/bartenders)
Just some parallels I noticed…
BTW if you are in the NYC area, check out THE BRIDGE 2.0 on Monday Jan 7th at The Chashama Theater 135 West 42nd Street (Between 6th Ave. & Broadway) 7pm to 10pm.
Its a community gathering of sorts put on by a friend of mine Daryll Hell and Real University.
The first of which was to invoke the healing process of the climate of our times in the wake of 9.11.01 from an alternative perspective. Forget about the stuf you get from CNN
This one is more art oriented with performances and what he calls “Ghetto Government” and guests.
I think he mentioned Harry Allen might be there. So “Don’t Belive the Hype”
Come out and support.
Peace

So its Thursday, the day for Yoga class. The first Yoga class of the year. Lead to definite reflection
onself past present and future. The practice of yoga has lead me to look for sprituality, happiness
and peace (GOD) in everything, including yourself. It is also about challenging yourself, the the defeat and surrender of yourself. Stress, fear, etc. I feel I’m on the right track. At least today I do.
Also, they are raising my rent in my loft, so the yoga was much needed.
Nothing much happened. So I’m writing this and eating chicken alfredo w/ mixed vegatable listening to
Future Lounge and the vibe is cool. A friend of mine is spinning tonight at Tribeca Grand
(as featured on Sex in the City) check his site out at Grooveselector.com . I might go to chill or watch “The Limey” the dvd which is looking at me uwrapped and asking “why havent you watched me yet?”

I found out that I could update this journal by accessing it through my Blackberry device.

Its the 1st day of the New Year. I’m coding and updating my page. Also watching “The Avengers” marathon on the Mystery Channel. I forgot how hot the show actually is. I want to go out and get a videotape to get the remaining 8 hours. But its cold as hell (never understood that term)..ok cold as a witches’ tit. Now that’s cold because flying on a broom at a high altitude must be cold, especially this time of year
Tonight is the Rock Steady party. Nice and Smooth is performing!
A good way to start the year!
